この度GALLERY TARGETではフォトグラファー、新田桂一の個展を開催いたします。
時代のポップアイコンを被写体にファッションやアート、広告に至るまでファッショナブルでパッショナブルなフォトグラファー。
小さい頃から宇宙への憧れを持ち、望遠鏡でよく天体観察をしていたという新田桂一。
かつてはUFOを目撃した事もあり、その興味は現在まで続いています。
本展では「レプティリアンがフォトグラファーになったらどんな写真ができるのか？」というテーマを掲げ、新作を発表いたします。
新田がこれまでに発表してきた自らが世界的著名人に変装し撮影するセルフポートレイトプロジェクト「100K」と東京を代表するスタイルフリーな人々を撮った「PORTRAIT」シリーズの進化系という位置づけとなり、新たなスタイルを構築。
IPC(国際パラリンピック委員会) x WOWOWのドキュメンタリーシリーズ制作の為に、アートディレクター川上智也氏と数年間に渡り世界各国を旅する間にコンセプトが固まり、後に作品へと昇華させたという本シリーズ。
地球を旅する道中、宇宙へと思いを馳せた新田桂一がレプティリアンとなり新作をお披露目します。

1975年東京生まれ、文化服装学院アパレルデザイン科卒業後
1997年に渡米、Terry Richardson氏に6年間師事
2006年に帰国後、独立
2018年 第49回講談社出版文化賞写真賞受賞
2021年に開催された東京パラリンピックではIPC（国際パラリンピック委員会）×WOWOW パラリンピックドキュメンタリーシリーズ「WHO I AM」のKEY VISUALを担当。
現在は日本を拠点にパッショナブルな作風で広告やファッション雑誌など多方面で活動中。

“cosmiCCentury” by Keiichi Nitta

GALLERY TARGET is pleased to present a solo exhibition by photographer Keiichi Nitta.
Fashionable and passion-able photographer, who shoots pop icons of the times, from fashion and art to advertising.
Nitta has had a longing for space since he was a child and often used a telescope to observe celestial bodies. He once even witnessed a UFO, an interest that continues to this day.
"What kind of photographs would Reptilians create if they became photographers?"
Answer to this question will be presented at “cosmiCCentury" through Nitta’s new body of works. It is positioned as an evolution of Nitta's previously exhibited self-portrait project '100K', in which he disguises himself as a world-famous person and photographs himself, and the 'PORTRAIT' series, in which he photographs Tokyo's leading style-free people.
The concept for this series was developed during several years of traveling around the world with art director Mr. Tomoya Kawakami for the production of the IPC (International Paralympic Committee) and WOWOW documentary series, and was later sublimated into a work of art. In this exhibition, you can witness Keiichi Nitta, who had thoughts of the universe on his journey around the Earth, becomes a Reptilian and unveils his new works.

Keiichi Nitta
Born 1975 in Tokyo
1997 - After graduated from Bunka Fashion College with a degree in apparel design, moved to the USA in and worked under Terry Richardson for 6 years.
2006 - Returned to Japan and started his own career as photographer.
2018 - Received “49th Kodansha Publishing Culture Award for Photography”
Nitta was in charge of creating key visual for the IPC (International Paralympic Committee) x WOWOW Paralympic documentary series “WHO I AM” at the Tokyo Paralympic Games in 2021.
Currently based in Japan, Nitta’s passionate art works and personality can be seen in variety of advertising and editorial stories.
