NAGABA YU SOLO EXHIBITION 'The Last Supper'

2020年12月11日(金)より、イラストレーターでアーティストの長場雄によるソロエキシビション「The Last Supper」を渋谷にあるギャラリースペース「SAI」で開催することとなりました。昨今の状況を鑑み、オープニングレセプション等のイベントは行いませんが、展覧会開始日の12月11日(金)には終日作家が在廊いたします。気軽にお越しくださいとお伝えするのも気兼ねしてしまう状況ではあるのですが、検温、消毒などの対応を行い、お越しいただい際には安全に鑑賞できるよう努めてまいります。皆さまにお会いできるのを楽しみにしております。

少年時代のトルコ滞在での経験から美術大学へ進学、テザイナーとして活動した後、2014年にイラストレーターとして今のスタイルを確立し、現在まで様々な媒体とのコラボレーションを実現している長場雄。同時にアーティストとしても活動の幅を広げ、彼が描くそのシンプル且つスムーズな表現は昨今の国内外アートシーンからも多くの注目を浴びています。
彼の持つ的確に特徴を抽出、最小限の曲線を用いて心象を映し出す繊細なフィルター。それを通して生み出される作品群は、まるでイラストレーションとコンテンポラリーアートの識別を啓発するかのように感じることもでき、どこか身に覚えのあるモチーフも、キャッチーな視覚芸術として新しい形に生まれ変わり、温和でポジティブな側面として鑑賞者の目に焼き付きます。
貴重なアートピースで構成される本展覧会では、4メートルのオリジルキャンバスにアクリル絵具で描かれる代表作「The Last Supper」をはじめ、作家の世界観が吹き込まれた様々な形状のキャンバス、初お披露目となる立体作品などが会場全体を覆います。
また展示会場では、本展覧会限定グッズをはじめ、今年12月に開催された「artKYOTO 2020」でも発売された、ファッションブランド UNDERCOVER(アンダーカバー)デザイナー 高橋盾とのコラボレーションアパレルも販売。シルクプリント、マルチプル作品の * 抽選販売も予定しております。貴重なこの機会に是非足をお運びください。

イラストレーター、アーティスト。 1976 年東京生まれ。アーティストとしての活動のほか、雑誌、書籍、広告、アパレルブランドとのコラボレーションなど様々な領域で活動。過去のワークスに、UNIQLO、ASICS、 G-SHOCK、BEAMS とのコラボレーション、その他、マガジンハウス、RIMOWA、 Technics、Spotify、UniversalMusic、Monocle など国内外問わず様々なクライアントにイラストレーションを提供している。

YU NAGABA SOLO EXHIBITION "The Last Supper"
SAI is pleased to present a solo exhibition "The Last Supper" , by an illustrator and artist Yu Nagaba, from December 11th, 2020.
From his experience in Turkey in his childhood, Nagaba studied art at an university, and worked as a designer. Nagaba established his current style as an illustrator back in 2014, since then, he has been collaborating with various media up until now. At the same time, he has expanded his activities as an artist, and his simple but smooth expression has gained the glaring spotlight from both domestic and international art scenes.
He accurately extracts the characteristics of the image, by using a minimum curve, he projected the image through a delicate filter. His artworks can be perceived as if they are enlightening to distinguish between illustration and contemporary art, and the familiar motifs are reborn as catchy visual art and are imprinted in the viewer's eyes as a gentle positive aspect.
The exhibition consists of artworks infused with the world-view of the artist, including 4 meters of original canvas with acrylic paint, which draws his representative work ‘The Last supper’ , the canvas works in various shapes and the first ever sculptural works made by the artist.
In addition, there will be merchandise exclusive to this exhibition, as well as apparels made in a collaboration with Jun Takahashi who is a designer of the fashion brand UNDERCOVER(undercover), also sold at ‘artKYOTO 2020’ held in December this year. There will also be limited edition screen printed prints and multiples sold via lottery.

PROFILE
Yu Nagaba Illustrator, artist. Born in Tokyo in 1976.
Apart from his activities as an artist, he works in various fields such as magazine, book, advertisement, and collaboration with apparel brands. In past works, he has collaborated with UNIQLO, ASICS, G-SHOCK, BEAMS, and has provided illustrations to various domestic and foreign clients such as Magazine House, RIMOWA, Technics, Spotify, Universal Music, Monocle, etc.
